As my previous post indicates, I went on a little shopping spree on friday, and achieved my fortnight-long dream of owning Topshop's Hidden Treasure nail varnish. Some of you lovely people have been wondering what it looks like on, and in all honesty, I have suffered some sleep deprivation because of the excitement. I actually did the Race For Life for Cancer Research yesterday, so a manicure would have been futile to say the least. Instead, I did it as soon as I woke up this morning!
I swear by this nail builder. I've been using it for about 5 years and I buy it from my local pharmacy. I highly recommend a calcium-enriched strengthener of some kind, Sally Hansen has an excellent range (available at Boots).
After a couple of coats of strengthener, I applied the first coat of colour. Topshop brushes are a great shape, they're slightly rounded at the tip, which ensures a more precise application, helping you reach right up to the cuticle.
The first coat was a gorgeous translucent gold-green colour. It was lovely by itself!
After letting it dry thoroughly, I applied the second coat. This coat brought out the greens and blues in the varnish much more, and gives it a fabulous, luxurious dipped-in-liquid-metal effect which is similar to what you see in the bottle. After a top coat they were life-proof and ready to go.
In my humble opinion, Topshop's Hidden Treasure is just as glorious as you'd expect it to be. And now I can't stop staring at my nails.
They remind me of a beetle that lives in my garden:
Maybe now that we're matching we can be friends... even though his outfit is precocious.
